Gluten Allergy Symptoms
Do you have gluten allergy symptoms?
So much bloating and gas, some many medical terms, and so much confusion! Often the terms celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and a gluten allergy get carelessly thrown around as if they all refer to the same condition.
These terms are not synonymous. Celiac disease can be referred to as a gluten intolerance, however “intolerance” doesn’t seem to capture the severity of the condition.
Celiac disease is not an allergy - it is an autoimmune disease.
If you experience a histamine response very shortly after eating or coming into contact with wheat or gluten containing foods, you may be allergic to gluten or wheat. The symptoms of a gluten allergy are much like other allergies, including:
- Itchy skin or mouth
- Stomach discomfort
- Respiratory problems
- Hives
- Diarrhea
